What to Do When Snow is on the Way?...2/8/2013

 Bake some Scones, of course!!

SCONES

3 cups flour
1/3 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
3/4 cup unsalted butter(1 1/2 sticks)
1 cup butter milk
optional: 1/2 cup raisins, craisins, walnuts, almonds etc
you can use fruit or nuts o both

Directions:
Pre-heat oven to 400
combine all the dry ingredients
add butter mix with fork or finger tips until a dry meal(crumbly)
add butter milk, mix until all combined, add fruit or nuts if desired
On a floured surface, pat dough out  into a flatten circle about 3/4 in thick, cut into wedges
you'll get 8-12, place on greased baking sheet
brush tops with melted butter
Bake 15 min, until golden brown

optional glaze: When cooled drizzle with glaze
mix 1 cup confectioner sugar, 1 -2 tbs water, 1 tbs Almond extract
*******
This may look  like a lot to do but they are very easy to make and taste soooo good!
Grandma would have loved  them for sure.
I put raisins in mine.

Now it's time for coffee and some scones!
