Meet the "Keets"

Isn't it cute!
It's one of twenty eight keets
that arrived at our house today
They will be living under the light for about six weeks,
then they can be moved outdoors to their coupe for another six weeks.
after that they will be able to roam around the yard.

They arrived via the post office
Why do we have them?
well they eat ticks (and other bugs) but mainly ticks and ticks are a big problem in NY.
HD has given most of them to Scott and Diane,
they have a much bigger yard for them than we do.
It will be fun watching them grow.

Here's a little video
filmed in HD

The Keets look great Joyce! One question, will coyotes and foxes being attracted to your Keets? Will this create a new problem for you?

Yep the mail, they came from Maine.

I'm not sure what HD will do as far as a fence. They will have a little chicken coupe type thing.

And there are coyotes around here, although we haven't seen one in our yard but they are around. Don't know what HD's plan s for that yet. We already lost two of the chicks, they just weren't strong enough.
This is a work in progress.

ticks are nasty and the diseases they carry can make you very ill.

when i get a chance i will post some pics of Scott & Diane's turkeys, they have 4 of them and Scott plans on eating at least one of them for Thanksgiving, so what do you think of that??
