Mr Nic Goes to Kindergarden

Nicholas started kindergarden this year. Even though there was lots of anxiety (his Mom, not him) he has been doing just fine since day one... Hes actually started reading on his own...

And then there is Elizabeth who at 2.5 yrs is having a blast. Her brother and she can be the best of friends or the biggest enemies at any given moment, John and Kim does this sound familiar?

Next post Ill get back into the "archives"...enjoy!

Great Pictures - School Sucks...

Red said...

Great pics thanx!

But I must say, as a expert in pedagogy, that I am disappointed in Nick's classroom setting.

Kindergarten is a very delicate time and children should be exposed to multiple sensory manipulatives (ie: posters, pictures, letters, numbers and colors) What is the reason for such a bland palette? Perhaps Ms. Tenored Union rep teacher didnt come in early to prepare her room? Tennis ball chair hushers excluded. They are a great idea for keeping the room quiet on those days when the teacher comes in hung over FYI...

My advice: get him outta there asap!

Listen Mr. Teacher that sits at his desk and reads the paper. Nicholas actually has one of the best kindergarten teacher at that school. As for the classroom palette, the room was given to her the weekend before school began. She was working on the front of the classroom because they sit facing the front of the class not the back. If you came to Florida and went to see Nicholas at school instead of buying cars you would have seen that his classroom is full with multiple sensory manipulatives. ( Did you look that up)? As for the tennis balls, it is to keep the floors from getting scracthes

like I said ...school sucks

Red said...

Anonymous Mom!

The balls keep the screeching chair noise down to a minimum for hangover days... Every real teacher knows this...

Its like the bag toss trick, want a kid to leave your room, toss his backpack in the hallway when punk kid goes to retrieve it slam the locked door behind him... end of problem LA style...

A school assigning classrooms the weekend before classes begin surely is in distress. Trust me I know! Being the best at said school is irrelevant, its like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic...the ship still sinks!

Nick still loves me because I am lookin out for him...

Put him in Catholic school they do great work, just look at the wonderful transformation they did with Muggs. Can you imagine how different he'd be if he went to public school???

Go Yanks!

it is a wonderful thing to come to a place where everyone has an opinion!! Hooray for freedom of Speech!

I don't know what to say except we have exceptional kindergartens in NY. and by the way Andrea is now an officially certified public school teacher. grades 1-6 as well as special ed. she also has been hired as a permanent sub for a teacher going out on maternity leave starting in Oct. for 1st grade.

it's about time you did a post Lauren, it was great to see your voice your views, finally!!

Sweet Marlins hat, you go Nick....nice going GPE, your influence is impressive...yanks...out..

Just for the record you have no proof that I ever:

read a paper, cruised the Internet, wandered the halls for 20 plus minutes, ignored the potsmokers in the stairwell, let the fight go on just a bit longer before calling security since it is better to have it decided, laughed when the kids threw a beaker of pee at the long term sub from India, ignored the shooting in the background while at practice, played tricks on the sleeping teacher who has narcolepsy, had a friend call me while in a meeting with an administrator and played it as it was an emergency and left, or ever left work early regardless of what is on the video tape!!!!

CONGRATS!!!
Andrea welcome to the force!

mess with Nicholas and you have to deal with the wrath of Aunt Helen. By the way, what kind of multiple sensory manipulatives do you have in your classroom? Are they bolted to the walls? What about the desks and chairs? Nicholas will be an exceptionally great student in the Florida Public School System. Nicholas will be a doctor when he is finish with his career as the third baseman for the Florida Marlins.

Big Scott is the "Manny" in this family, I work for a living!

Don't hate me because I realized at an early age that I'd rather work to live than live to work...

Andrea you have a lifetime of making doctors appts, ballgames, piano lessons and any other activity that your future beautiful children will be engaged in while the average workin schmuck can't because they have to work!!!

Your a wise woman!

"Work smarter not harder!"

joyce said...

Red i agree, i don't know what you said but I agree...

i think Scott is doing a great job raising three children under the ages of ten. Can you get two children up at 6:30am feed, dress, and make sure that they don't forget their lunches, backpacks, homework etc. get them to the bus a block away without missing the bus all while taking care of a 2year year old Come home and run a house properly? (cleaning, grocery shopping, stiil tending to a two year old that wants you to play with you)

Being a parent(mother ,father or nanny) is a fulltime job. And it is one of the toughest jobs in the world & probably the most rewarding . So i think that says it all
You go Big Scott!!

I heard it was too long and it crashed the blogger page by putting all the right column stuff (person of week, flags, etc...) way down to the bottom of the page. I also heard several attempts were made to try and save the post from permanent deletion but all efforts failed. Thats what I heard...
