Red's Wine Review #1

We go to the wine cellar and make a wise selection...

The "Smoking Loon" a fine 89 point California Cabernet for under 10 bucks...
A closer look.. for those who are actually going to go out and retrieve a sample for further inspection...
The "Meat" 2, 8 ounce filets... Inch and a half thick marinated in "Red's" secret marinade for 72hrs minimum...
The final presentation... Filet, Edamame beans (Soy) and old fashioned mash... A terrific display on the palet and a wise combination for the senses... Please do go out and get a bottle of the Smoking Loon at your favorite Liquor dispencery and consume in full and share your thoughts... It only works if we ALL give it a try...Enjoy and keep on BLOGGIN...!!!

nice way to follow up red..now what the hell are "points:?

Educate you educator!!

Points are a relatively convenient ratings scale for the busy wine connoisseur.

At a good wholesale liquor mart they will display the points of most brands and wine types.

Basically, I look for 80pts or higher. Generally speaking, the higher the points the higher the price, but also higher quality, satisfaction and buzz...

This particular brand is deal at $6.99 a bottle...

Red says to hell with your 401k payment this month, go out and buy a case of this stuff and you'll be glad you did!

Invest in happiness not the market!

Actually.... "Points" are the 105 I posted to your 83 in fantasy football, Red... Am I mistaken? Did you really put more thought into your dinner than your team? I thought I was up against you, but when your quarterback and lead wide receiver have a bye this week, I'm assuming you're just not playing anymore... Anyway, that meal looks awesome! I love Smoking Loon, and it's got a special place in my heart! Check out Jeff Runquist, he's finally opened his own winery and tasting room. It's my favorite wine in the world... http://www.jeffrunquistwines.com

Kim and I miss you guys terribly! :)

You'll love the "Loon" its a good flavor and you can't beat the $$$!

Remember my fellow wine enthusiasts serve even red wine chilled, its good for the you and the grapes...

Hehe, more boy pics will follow soon, thanks for the extra motivation... maybe others will start to step it up and contribute again, like in the old days...

red wine chilled...it's better served at room temperature with ample time to breathe.
That's how I like my red wine.

Muggs you and Gwen need to go get the Loon and give it a try...

C'mon, I would love to hear your honest opinion.

Anybody go get it yet? If so where and how much was it?

JAD, the wine pros say it should be chilled, usually around 50 degrees for red and let it breathe too... It will change the flavor and aroma slightly if chilled or not... Not my words, this comes from real winos... Just ask the Comstocks, they know!

Stay tuned... there's a wine tasting occurring on 10/9 @ the Marrero house.. wine and Chili will be served but will the wine be chiliesd? We'll see...

Good thread gang...

Ok so what's the process sniff, sip, swirl, repeat or do I just gargle and spit?

Red said...

You got it.

Open, let breathe (half hour), sniff, sip and enjoy...

Consume whole bottle(s)...

Report back here with honest opinion...
